Donation instead of gifts: solute donates 1,000 euro to DKMS

The Karlsruhe-based e-commerce provider solute, operator of billiger.de and shopping.de, has decided not to offer Christmas presents and printed Christmas cards this year. The enterprise donates instead 1,000 euro to the German marrow donor file (DKMS gGmbH). With this amount the DKMS can take up approximately 30 new potenzielle master cell donors.
"Instead of a Christmas present, we would like to give our partners the feeling of supporting something special with our donation," explains Bernd Vermaaten, Managing Director of solute, the operator of billiger.de and shopping.de, the background to the commitment. "Because we are sure that our money is better invested here than in printed Christmas cards. Our Christmas greetings we send as Internet enterprises therefore naturally also more suitable digitally , so Vermaaten further.
Blood cancer is common cancer disease
In Germany alone, one person suffers from blood cancer every 15 minutes. In addition, blood cancer is the most common of all cancers in children. Every tenth blood cancer patient cannot find a suitable donor. With its money donation the solute would like to help the DKMS to register new donors and to make patients possible world-wide entrance to therapies.
