Online shopping expert right from the start

Since 2004 we have been continuously developing new ideas with enthusiasm. We always have our goals in mind: creating unique shopping experiences for our users and enabling successful online marketing campaigns for our customers.


  • 2004

    Urs Keller and Lars Bauer found solute GmbH in Karlsruhe, thus laying the foundation for an e-commerce success story.

  • 2005

    In July the price comparison portal goes live. Online shoppers and bargain hunters can quickly find out which shop offers the best deal for their desired product.

  • 2007

    ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG takes over the majority shares of solute GmbH. This enables TV advertising which increases the  awareness of as a brand.

  • 2009

    A consortium of eleven directory publishers acquires the shares of ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG. In addition, founding member Urs Keller leaves solute GmbH. Lorenz Petersen is taking over the management together with Lars Bauer. 

  • 2010

    Lars Bauer leaves the company but remains loyal to solute as a shareholder. Lorenz Petersen takes over the management.

  • 2011

    solute introduces the Sparberater - the first TÜV-certified browser add-on in Germany While searching in an online shop for a specific offer, this add-on automatically shows alternative shops that offer the desired product for a better price. 

  • 2012

    For the first time solute participates at the dmexco in Cologne. Decision-makers from the fields of digital business, marketing and innovation come together at this event. In the following years, the Karlsruhe-based company regularly presents its portfolio of products and services to trade visitors.

  • 2014

    With "EPFL Python Frontend Logic" solute releases a new open source framework. It simplifies the development of individual, web-based editing tools. The framework divides applications into pages and components.

  • 2015

    solute GmbH opens an office in Leipzig. With its numerous e-commerce companies, the Saxon city is an IT stronghold. The new office will make solute part of this innovative and dynamic city.

  • 2016

    solute GmbH acquires and founds a subsidiary: Handels GmbH. With a few employees and a warehouse covering 2,500 square meters, Leipzig remains the location of the portal that previously belonged to the UNISTER group.

  • 2017

    solute GmbH continues to set standards with the introduction of the revolutionary ka'ch!ng technology and the international price comparison app PricePretzel. Another premiere: For the first time the company takes part in the Meet Magento in Leipzig.

  • 2018

    Bernd Vermaaten is new managing director of solute GmbH as Lorenz Petersen leaves the company but continues holding shares.

  • 2018

    With friends communication solute GmbH presents its own dialogue marketing agency. It is partner for successful online marketing campaigns.

  • 2019

    Another milestone: Google becomes partner of solute GmbH. The company is demonstrating its expertise and sustained success in the area of advertising for Google Shopping and stands out from other competitors. 

  • 2019

    Since February 2019, a strong dual leadership has been responsible for the management of solute GmbH. Dr. Thilo Gans and Bernd Vermaaten are now managing the company together as a team.
